FAQ

What kind of wood are your cribs made from?

It varies. As a general rule, they are solid hardwood, typically poplar. Occasionally, the factory will use rubberwood in place of poplar for some components (never slats). The only exceptions to the solid wood rule are cribs with a panel headboard. These us MDF in their panels, with a cherry or walnut veneer on both sides. All composite wood products (MDF, particleboard, plywood) that we use comply with California CARB Phase 2 standards for formaldehyde content, meaning they already comply with upcoming federal limites on formaldehyde emissions.

What are your dressers and chests made from?

Our casegoods follow typical current construction, which uses a solid wood face frame (typically poplar or rubberwood) with veneered MDF in the large flat panels, such as the sides and top. All composite wood products (MDF, particleboard, plywood) we use comply with California CARB Phase 2 standards for formaldehyde content, meaning they already comply with upcoming federal limits on formaldehyde emissions.

What kind of finish do you use?

We use a durable, non-toxic lacquer finish. We test our finishes for lead, phthalates, cadmium, and other heavy metals and harmful substances.

I’m missing a part/have a damaged part…can I get a new one?
